Yuckies

I sure wish I could get rid of this nausea. It rules my life. I don't even want to stand up or move around at all. Which makes it hard since I probably need to go to the bathroom soon. Also it is definitely time to get something to eat today. I feel like a slug.
Little Carter is in surgery right now. Hope all goes well.
I am back in Cedar to finish the moving process. Saturday we head to Vegas and then Sunday on to Bakersfield. 4008 Oregon #17, Bakersfield, California, 93306

Nifty News

Last night Rich called and said that we got a good offer on the house and we will probably take it. $92,000. It's a cash deal so no banks/escro involved. The sale will close on March 21st. Rich says we can make it part of the deal that we stay 'till March 28th. So that we will have time to pack up. We could be in California on my Birthday!
Dr. Kline's office has not heard back from Dr. Elliott about transplant possibilities. I'll let you know as soon as I know.
I'm expecting a box from Think Geek today. It has toys to play with.
I got my quilt tied today! Yeah! Only thing left is to hem the edges.

Letter and response from Dr. Kline

Here is the letter I sent to Kline with the answers that he gave me over the phone.
Nobody reads this blog, so it's probably safe to assume if you are reading this you care about the answers. All questions you may have can either be e-mailed to me or call my cell. The answers about lung transplants are vague because he has to contact the doctor that does them and find out for me and then get back to me probably Monday.

Dr. Kline,
I have some questions I need to ask you and I feel that they can be answered better in detail in an e-mail rather than taking time in your office.

Health concerns

1. My feet continue to swell in Las Vegas. How swollen is too much? I have tried elevating the feet but it makes it extremely hard to breath. Ice has helped a bit. Doubling up the diaretic is risky because I can’t just jump up and get to a bathroom quickly. A: Elevate whenever possible. If the skin tears then see a doctor. Change diaretic to 60mg (1 ½ tablets)
2. If I need to go to a hospital, here in Vegas, in an emergency should I go to the closest one (UMC) or is there one in Vegas that specializes in Heart and Lung problems that would be better suited? A: UMC has very good doctors. It’s where heart and lung patients were sent in Southern Utah before Dixie Regional was built.
3. I have yet to faint but have come extremely close many times. When this does happen, should an ambulance be called or should I just be put to bed? Again, question 2 comes into play. A: Call 911 for an ambulance.

Dr. Hendrix is very concerned about my condition. In the last 9 months he has seen me go from minor fatigue to a full phase 3. He feels it is time to ask the serious questions of you.

4. Am I on a lung transplant list? What’s the waiting period? A: Not on one yet
5. If not, what has to be done to put me on one? ie. How bad do I have to get? What tests need to be done? A: Another heart catherization is usually done. Dr. Kline will contact a Doctor in Salt Lake City who usually does lung transplants for his patients. He thinks I’m a good candidate for lung transplant.
6. If I don’t qualify or don’t get a transplant, what can I expect? The doctor and my family feel it is time to ask the questions about mortality time with someone in my condition. A: It’s still 3 to 5 years from onset.(signs started May 2006)

This has not been an easy letter to write and I know the answers might not be easy to take either, but they are important to me. Please reply as soon as possible.

Okey. Back to the here an now. I'm coming down with a cold. I feel like crap. The grandbabies have RSV.(respitory virus) I've been absolutely no help today. Cassie is sick too and she's had to do all the work. If I can't help once in a while, I'm afraid I will wear out my welcome quickly.
I've been working on my quilt this week. I was hoping to lay it on the floor and tie it today, but I have had no desire to crawl around on my hands and knees. It's 6:30p and I'm ready to call it a night.

Back to normal

Sorry about that last post. I was in a depressed mood. Pretty sure I am back to normal now. Back in Vegas. Not much to report. The house is on the market, but so far, no-one has even looked at it. My mind is drawing a blank here. Can't think of anything worth talking about....wait. Rich liked his valentine's gift. I bought him an Ipod shuffle. It's blue with the inscription "Who Pulled My TAIL?". It's from The Wizard of Oz for the movie musical impared. Guess that's it. see ya.

Not good

Went to my Cedar City doctor today. He told me that it is time to have the "serious talk" with my Lung doc. Lung transplant options, mortality time tables, what to expect before I die. Nothing like a little "scared strait" type talk on a Thursday morning. Sorry. I just have to write this stuff out once in a while. It's not what you were expecting to read when you came to this site.
Got a call from R4. He misses me. I'll be back on Monday, if not sooner. My doc doesn't want me doing the 2 weeks in Vegas 1 week back in Cedar. He says it can only make me worse.

Oops

I ranted and then I haven't posted myself for almost a month. Oops. Moved into R4 and Cassie's. Spent 2 weeks in Vegas with them and now I am back with Rich in Cedar for 9 days. Normally I would be going back to L.V. on Saturday, but next Monday is a national holiday and Rich doesn't work that day so I am going back then.
Rich bought me a Valentine's gift! And it's a good one. A HP pavillion notebook computer. Even R4 thinks he made a great deal. I don't have internet on it unless I unhook this computer and attach it to mine. Then it's sitting 3 feet from this one....sooo.... right now I just piddle with games. But I can sit on my bed and compose a letter and then hook it to the internet and send it. R4 says it's already wireless networked so when I walk into his place I can use it anywhere! coolness. And he's going to hook me up with either an ether net wire or a wireless connection to use here.
I'm hoping also to get a cheap case and mouse. That finger scroll thing drives me nuts. I'm getting the hang of it, but I really like my mouse. Laters.

Blog! Darn you, Blog!

Web-sites and blogs are meant to be used people! I realize I don't have a life or responsibilitie any more so I blog more than most I suppose, but even an occasional post would be better than Months passing by! I also know that I only have 3 readers to my diatribe I call a journal, but Each of you could post 2 times per month and it would make my day.
So, BLOG PEOPLE!

Okey, off my soap box.
Life is the same as always here in Cedar City.

Jenny!

On Sunday, Joseph and Jenny drove from Las Vegas to Cedar City and we had a wonderful visit. She is very sweet and you can tell they are both in love. The next day they hopped on a plane for Denver and were back home. Too short. But they looked exhausted from all the traveling to California and back, so they were probably ready to get home.

Life is the same here. Packing, cleaning, moving, more cleaning. The carpet guy is supposed to be here on Monday I think. I will ask for help from the Relief Society to come in and do a major clean.

I was hoping to move to Vegas this Saturday, but now it looks like NEXT Saturday. I have to be here when the people are here. I also have to contact an oxygen company to bring equipment to R4's.

Rich and I got matching phones. It's the Samsun T-509. Very sleek and sexy. The screen color is amazing. Still with T-mobile. I can assign ringers soooo... R4, Cassie, Joe and Jenny: Defiying Gravity.
My brothers, sister and Dad: Ding Dong the Witch is Dead.
Ruth: Remembering Grandma. (pre-installed ring tone)
Rich: Gonna Wash that Man Right Outta My Hair.
Everyone else: We're Off to see the Wizard.

'Till next time......

Nothin'

I hate sitting around all day twittling my thumbs. I keep up with the dishes and laundry, but that's about it.
Doctor appointment went well on Tuesday. He gave me some prozac, waterpills, and potasium. Hopefully that will get me kind of normal.
The kids are all in California, making the family rounds. Think they are coming here on Saturday. Can't wait.
I'm gonna try and go to Relief Society activity nite tonight. Don't know what they are doing. It's fun just to get out of the house for a while.
I'm hungry. So... time to head down stairs.

Howdy

It's been a bit. I hate it when people don't update their blog. I guess I've been busy doing nothing. Just nothin to write about.
But....
I went to Bakersfield for Christmas. All went well there. Rich and I did a lot of driving around to see which mobil/manufactured home parks we wouldn't mind being in. Got a lot of info to work with.
Christmas Eve was spent at Jeff Jr.'s. Adriene puts on quite a party. Came home with a basket with a blanket and 3 Christmas movies, a 3 cd Christmas music collection and 2 Christmas books. Already finished Book 1: The Stupidist Angel by Christopher Moore. Don't know that I will read his other books, but I can see what R4 likes about them. They are very twisted and funny.
Christmas day was spent at Byron's. Jeannette put on a very nice dinner. Amazing food. We had a nice time. After dinner T.V. and I did a short Ukelele sing along, then T.V. told a story and then George did a magic trick called "The Chicken Towel" very funny.
On the way home from B-field, Rich dropped me off at R4's and Cassies and I stayed from Wednesday to Saturday in Vegas. Richie was sick when I got there and Carter came down with the same thing the next day. I heard yesterday that Cassie has it now. I'm so sorry they got so sick. Luckily Anthony was there during the day and he took Richie and held him most of the time and I took Carter and held him.
I didn't feel much of a difference in my health while I was in Bakersfield and Las Vegas, but when I got back it felt like I had been slammed up against the lockers in Junior High by the school bully again. The pressure is just not going away, and my depression is not helping either. I have an appointment with my family doctor for the depression on Tuesday at 12:30p. Then on the 24th I have an appointment with Dr. Kline in St. George. That one might have to be changed if I can get the rest of my eggs in a basket and get out of Cedar soon.
Joe and Jenny are coming to visit the afternoon of the 9th. I can't wait.
A friend of mine took me out to lunch yesterday. We went to the Chinese Buffet. Both our husbands don't like a lot of variety in their food so we found a place they wouldn't take us to eat. Ummmm mmm.

Happy Anniversary

Today is the 31st anniversary of Rich and me's first date. Yep the Highland High School Winter Formal. Tomorrow will be the 30th anniversary of our second date. Yes one year and a day between the two. December 20th is the 4th anniversary of my Mom's death. I will try not to dwell on that one.
More snow on the ground this morning. Yuck.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow, Let....ARE YOU NUTS?

Snow storm came late yesterday. It didn't start until after 11pm and then we woke to 1 FOOT of snow this morning! Yep. Hang on Joe and Jenny, it's comin' your way.
Okey. The Newman 'rents itinerary is as follows: Leave Cedar City morning of Thursday December 21st. Stay in Bakersfield 'till Wednesday December 27th. Stop to chat with Vegas Newman's that evening dropping me off for the weekend and then DAD heads back to Cedar. I will do my Friday babysit and then take the shuttle home on Saturday the 30th.

Hello world

I can now say I have been to Escalante, Utah. That's where Rich goes on his route for work. He takes bank receipts to banks and then picks up new ones from the banks on his return trip and delivers them back to Cedar City to a waiting plane bound for Salt Lake. He wanted me to go with him once so today was the day. We had a nice day. OHHHHH. Guess what? The suspension on the Expedition has been fixed. Yeahhhhhhh. No more boingy boingy. It wasn't the air shocks like everyone had been telling us. It was the actual compressor. CHA Ch$$$$$$ng. But now it's done.
I had my lung specialist doctor appointment yesterday. It went well. The problem that the echo nurse saw was how much pressure my lungs were measuring. Evidently lungs function at 20 lbs pressure and mine are at 80! But....In August when this test was taken it measured 90!!!!! Yikes. So the doctor was happy because it has come down 10 points. He also told me I'm his worst case right now. Isn't that a lovely distinction. Yep, that's me. Have to do everything BIG. crap.....
Tomorrow we are having a yard///////, garage//////, storage unit sale. It's expected to snow 2 inches. Funsville. Guess that's it. Happy times.

busy, busy

Had a echo cardio gram done on my heart this morning. Also had several blood tests. So glad they can do all that with one poke now. The nurse that did my echo said she saw something that wasn't good. But I don't know what it was. I had just had one in August and she wasn't able to access it to compare the two. YUCK-A-PUCK. Normaly is takes a week to send the info on to the doctor. I see him on Thursday. She faxed it to him before I got out of the hospital. Not a good sign.
But after that... Life got a little better. I've talked to both Joseph and R4 today. That always makes me smile. I've even talked to Jackie. She called to tell me some good news. Her eye-doctor tried a new procedure on her bad eye and she is "seeing" changes for the better. Yeahhhhhh!
At noon Ethel picked me up from the hospital and we made it to the senior citizen center just in time to start the performance of Ukelele Ladies for them. Then they fed us. This has been a busy day. It's 3:30p. Maybe I should do something around the house?????? Maybe change the cat box and call it good.

Birthday Boy

Happy Birthday Terrance. Love you brother dear. Hope you have a great day.

Thursday, November 30, 2006

Boy! Blogger sucks! I have been trying for 3 days to even get to the "create box" and I get nothing. It probably wasn't anything important to write about, but it's the principle of the thing. Now I have something to write about, so here is a letter that I wrote to family regarding my trip to SLC.

Report on paralyzed vocal chord

Okee Dokie, Here goes:

Rich drove me to Salt Lake City on November 29. They did 2 tests. The first one was the scope that the other doctors had done in the past. The left vocal chord is still not showing any signs of moving. The main doctor told me of the different procedures and surgeries that are available. Because of the kind of paralasis and my lung problems there is only one surgery that could work for me. They did the second test which checks to see if there are any motor neurons sending signals to the vocal chord. I did have a couple still working. Because complications can happen in anasthesia when lung problems are present, he wants me to wait another 3 months to see if the neurons will regenerate and bring my voice back on it's own. That will put the paralasis at one year. But the specialist said that 1 year to 18 months is more the time table than the 6 to 8 months the other doctors had told me. The surgery is also rather gnarly involving transplanting nerves to stimulate the other nerves or something close to that and so I am waiting. If I do the surgery it will still take ANOTHER 3 months to see if it works. By then we are hoping to be in Bakersfield or close to it. If he doesn't do the surgery he has a colegue at UCLA he trusts.
We got back home about 6pm last night. We went up in a storm, but came back without incident.
All is well and happy in Cedar City. Love, Non
